Had this thing being born right off the coast of Maine, we would have just assumed that someone drew the genetic short straw, but obviously, it just doesn't appear at normal places.

from what's been said it lives about 900 miles some direction away from the Christmas Islands, about 1.4 miles under the sea, so it is very possible that this creature exist.
you sure it's not from Japan? Probably the host of a game show.
couldn't be a game show host, Japanese game show hosts are actually one of the few things in Japan that actually "looks" normal.
