Your identity is worth less.

note, that doesn't mean that your personal information is worthless, it just worth less on the open (underground ID theft) market then it used to be. According to wired magazine:

What's more, "full identity" packages, which include a working credit card number, a Social Security number and a person's name, address and DOB, are going for as little as $100 for 50, or $2 apiece. Now that's a bargain.

Because of the falling U.S. dollar, and (I'm guessing) a population racked with debt, European identities also tend to be worth a lot more than the American equivalent.

so see, everybody, this recession is doing some good for us!

Seriously, though, it's time to start planning for self reliance, I'm not talking about a hard core hippy movement, but I am talking about investing money in ways which will allow for long term living without being dependent on others (land, self generating electricity, fuel efficient vehicle).

I don't want to sound bat shit crazy, but this recession and global weather melt down, it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when", and no amount of Gore's hoop and holler is going to save us.

I'm spending my money on a chainsaw!
